Quote: "My father… I loved him. So I will live with my sorrow. I will live my own life! I will defeat sorrow, and in his place, I will stand my ground and be strong. I don't know when it will be, but someday… I will conquer it. And I will do it without… false hope!"
Name: Yuna
Alias: N/A
Age: 17
Film/Show/Game: Final Fantasy X
Species: Human (half Al Bhed)
Height: 5'3"
Weight: Unspecified
Basic Appearance: Yuna is a somewhat short girl with shoulder-length brown hair. She has one blue eye and one green one. She usually wears a pleated blue dress with white floral patterns along with a black, spaghetti-string camisole under a white sash of material wrapping around her neck and over her chest. She also wears a yellow, floral-patterned sash around her waist and two separate, white, kimono-like sleeves that fade into pink at their ends on her arms. She wears a blue, beaded earring on her right ear and a silver pendant around her neck. Along with this, she also wears black boots.
Picture:
Personality: As Auron puts it, Yuna is "naïve, serious to a fault, and doesn't ask for help." She's kind and polite and has an unwavering resolve to complete whatever task she is to perform. She is, however, soft-spoken about her determination. Because of her duties as a summoner, she learned that she should smile, even when it proved difficult to. She's the type of person to put the needs of others above her own; she's quite willing to sacrifice her own happiness if it means helping others.
Allies: Lulu, Wakka, Rikku, Kimahri, Auron, Tidus; all others left for role-play
Enemies: Left for role-play
Family: Rikku (cousin), Brother (cousin), Cid (uncle), Braska (father, deceased), unnamed mother (deceased)
Alliances: Left for roleplay (but most likely Amaterasu's group?)
History: Spira - a world ravaged by the embodiment of Sin, caught in a spiral of death. This was the place Yuna called home. When she was just a child, her father, Braska, became a summoner to rid the world of it in order to stop others from suffering the loss of loved ones just as he had. Yuna's mother was an Al Bhed woman, the sister of Cid, and she had died in an attack by Sin.
Braska's pilgrimage ended in success. He defeated Sin. However, this battle ended in his own death. The Calm that resulted from Sin's defeat wouldn't last long, as it would only be resurrected again. Braska's guardian, Auron, mortally wounded, placed a mission on a Ronso, a tall, cat-like being with a horn on his head, named Kimahri, to protect Yuna and to keep her as far from her hometown, Bevelle, as possible. He did just that, and he took her to the island of Besaid after the celebration of Sin's defeat. Though he had intended to leave after knowing that she was safe, Yuna pleaded for him to stay. At Besaid, she became close friends with Lulu and Wakka, who tried to stop her from becoming a summoner.
That didn't go over so well. Even though Yuna knew the consequences of becoming a summoner herself, she trained to become one anyway. Wakka, Lulu, and Kimahri would end up becoming her guardians as a result, and the day she officially became one, she met up with someone whom Wakka had taken in earlier that day - someone who had washed up onshore because of an attack by Sin. His name was Tidus, and he claimed to have come from Zanarkand, a city destroyed a thousand years ago. The plan, at least as Wakka saw it, was for him to tag along until they reached the city of Luca, where he was bound to find someone who recognized him during or after the blitzball tournament that was to take place.
When they finally reached Luca, Tidus found someone he recognized - Auron. No one knew about his Zanarkand, though, so he continued to travel with Yuna's group as a guardian himself. Auron became Yuna's guardian as well that day. On the way to the next temple, the temple at Djose, she and her guardians got caught up in a mission by the Crusaders of Yevon to kill Sin using forbidden technology provided by the Al Bhed, who opposed Yevon but also desired to rid the world of Sin. There, the group met up with a maester of Yevon, Seymour, who showed interest in the young summoner. The operation failed miserably, even with their help.
Despite this, Yuna still went on. She would not give up just because of another devastating attack by Sin; in fact, it only drove her further on. She met up with her cousin, Rikku, on the way to their next destination, Guadosalam. Although she was an Al Bhed, Yuna gladly welcomed her among her group of guardians. At Guadosalam, she met up with Seymour again; to her surprise, he desired to marry her so that they could save Spira in the same way the first high summoner, Yunalesca, and her husband Zaon, did, through a bond of love. Yuna decided that it would be best to think it over at the Farplane, where she would consult the memories of her own parents. Upon leaving the Farplane, though, Seymour's father, Jyscal, deceased since a fortnight before the blitzball tournament, followed her out of it. Upon performing the Sending to calm his soul and return him to the Farplane, where the souls of the dead belonged, he dropped a sphere.
This sphere bothered Yuna, and she needed an opportunity to see just what was so important about it. While Auron would have preferred for them to proceed through the Thunder Plains just past Guadosalam in one fell swoop, Rikku, who was terrified of lightning, protested enough that she convinced him to let them stay at the travel agency halfway through the plains. It would do nothing about the storm, which raged eternally in that area, but it would at least give Rikku a rest and Yuna a chance to watch Jyscal's sphere.
It turned out that Jyscal, in his recording on the sphere, spoke of urgent matters indeed. Seymour killed him, his own father, in order that he would rise to power as a maester of Yevon, and Jyscal's last will was that whoever came into possession of his sphere would stop Seymour. Because of this, Yuna decided to marry him - not out of love, but because it would be a necessary thing to do to put an end to his plan. She would go on to kill Seymour after obtaining the Aeon of Macalania Temple before he even had the chance to marry her, with the help of her guardians, of course.
Seymour's advisor took this the wrong way, even though he had no idea what Seymour had done. After Yuna and her guardians fought and killed Seymour, his advisor destroyed Jyscal's sphere and took Seymour away from Yuna before she could send his soul to the Farplane in peace.
Yuna's group managed to escape the temple, but not for long. Before they knew it, they were met with two Guado guardians commanding a monster on the frozen lake of Macalania. This monster shattered the ice underneath them, and the fell to the bottom of the lake.
Somewhere along the line, Yuna was captured by the Guados. Seymour essentially became a dead man walking, and nothing would stop him from marrying Yuna. Elsewhere, Tidus found out from Rikku just what would happen to Yuna if she went through with her pilgrimage to the end - she, just like her father before her, would die. She had mentally prepared herself for the task and was willing to sacrifice herself for the good of Spira. The Final Summoning, what her pilgrimage was building up to, would eventually be the cause of her death - the Final Aeon would kill her. At least, that would have been so if they didn't figure out a way to stop it from happening.
Yuna's guardians eventually caught up to her at her hometown, Bevelle, where a wedding ceremony between Seymour and Yuna was about to take place. Before they could stop it, they were halted themselves. If they moved one inch, they would die; if Yuna married Seymour, they would be free.
Or so they thought. When Yuna did kiss Seymour, he ordered her guardians killed anyway. Yuna then threatened that if anyone laid a hand on any of them, she would jump off of the bridge. She had a plan of her own; she jumped anyway and summoned the first Aeon she had acquired, Valefor, to catch her before she fell to her death. After this, she made her way to the Bevelle Temple in the midst of the confusion and acquired the Aeon there. After that, though, she and her guardians were arrested, and after a trial in which she learned of Yevon's hypocrisy, they were all condemned to be sent to the Via Purifico.
After escaping the Via Purifico and fighting Seymour once more, the group rested in the Macalania Forest, where they wouldn't be found by those who had condemned them as traitors. It was there that Tidus promised her that he would show her his Zanarkand, and where she began to realize how much she loved him.
The next day, they made their way to the Calm Lands, the battleground where high summoners would fight Sin. Yuna came to a decision there - she would go on with her pilgrimage, no matter what. Her strong determination impressed the Ronsos of Mt. Gagazet, who would not have let her pass because she had been considered a traitor to Yevon, so much that they promised that they would make a great statue of her to honor her - with a big horn on her head, too! On the way up Mt. Gagazet, though, they ran into Seymour, who had killed many of the Ronsos while they were trekking up the mountain. They defeated him once more in a long and arduous battle, while Tidus and Rikku promised each other that they would come up with a plan to save Yuna.
They had already gotten to the ruins of Zanarkand, and they still lacked a plan. It was then that they met up with the unsent Yunalesca, who would turn whomever Yuna wanted into the fayth of the Final Aeon - the Aeon that would defeat Sin for a temporary Calm and kill Yuna in the process. Yuna chose no one, as she refused to cling to false hope any longer. Her only option was to defeat Yunalesca and send her to the Farplane then and there.
After the battle, Yuna and her guardians met up with her uncle, Cid, on the airship that they had used to save her in the first place. From there, they returned to Bevelle, where they would hopefully get some answers on how to truly defeat Sin. The unsent Grand Maester, Mika, had no solution, and, distraught, faded and went to the Farplane of his own volition. Because of this, Yuna and Tidus consulted the Fayth; the only way to destroy Sin was to defeat Yu Yevon, the immortal, once and for all. The plan then was for Yuna to summon each of her Aeons for Yu Yevon to possess, as it is attracted by summoning, and defeat it face-to-face. Doing so would free the Fayth of their endless dream - the dream that keeps Sin, the old Zanarkand, the Aeons, and Tidus in existence.
After rallying all of Spira to sing the hymn of the Fayth to attract Sin, and after several attacks on it, Yuna and her group went within Sin to destroy Yu Yevon. To their surprise, Seymour was there as well - he wanted to become the next Sin to liberate Spira of its sorrow, most likely through death, but he was defeated once more - for the last time. At last, Yuna sent his stubborn soul to the Farplane, and the attack on Yu Yevon could begin.
They would have to face Braska's Final Aeon, however; they would have to face Jecht, Tidus' own father, and defeat him, for he had become Sin. After that, the emotionally difficult battle with the Aeons she had called to her aid during her own pilgrimage, and the defeat of Yu Yevon, Yuna brought an eternal Calm to Spira. Sin was officially dead.
However, with the Fayth liberated from their endless dream, Auron, having been dead for ten years since he opposed Yunalesca after Braska and Jecht went on to fight Sin, was finally sent to the Farplane with his job finally done, and Tidus began to fade from existence. As he finally faded, Yuna declared that she loved him. She may have destroyed Sin, but in doing so, she lost the one she loved most. She refused to believe that he was truly gone; before she proclaimed to Spira that Sin was dead, she still called out to him. She still whistled, hoping that he would come running. He never did.
In her speech to the people of Spira, after she said that people could then live their lives freely, she added just one last thing for the people to consider:
"Just… one more thing. The people and the friends that we have lost… or the dreams that have faded…
Never forget them.”
One day, she found herself all alone, lost in the middle of a storm in a strange world unknown to her. It seemed that it was up to her to survive on her own.
Sample Post: "Pretty please? Just a few minutes?" begged Yuna's young, energetic Al Bhed guardian, Rikku. Yuna would have gladly stopped at the travel agency for her sake, but Auron motioned for her to continue onward.
"I'm scared of lightning! Let's rest, please? Pretty please?"
No amount of pleading would get through to the older, sunglasses-wearing guardian.
"I'm too young to die!"
Poor Rikku, thought Yuna. She really was terrified after all. Who could blame her, though? Being hit by a lightning spell meant to have targeted a fiend attacking her was quite the traumatic experience for her cousin.
"You're mean… cruel! Your moms would be ashamed of you!"
The group continued moving, though Yuna noticed that Tidus had turned back and was running towards Rikku. Maybe he had the right idea.
"Are you having fun doing this to me?"
At last, Auron stopped, and Yuna, Kimahri, Wakka, and Lulu turned back as well. "Fine, we rest," he groaned. "She's worse than the storm." Yuna was thankful that they would stop and rest, but for her own reasons.
For some reason, being out in the middle of this storm reminded Yuna of her time on the Thunder Plains. She could only imagine how terrified Rikku would be if she were with her at the moment.
Lightning crashed onto the ground once more; Yuna just barely dodged the bolt. Though she was not afraid of lightning like Rikku was, she didn't want to remain in this storm forever. She didn't want to have to risk being struck by lightning.
Where was Rikku? The former summoner looked around, but as far as she could tell, she was alone. Alone - that was not a pleasant feeling at all.
Where was she, for that matter? This desolate place looked nothing like anywhere in Spira she had seen, and she had journeyed all over Spira. That didn't matter, though. The former summoner did all she could to look for shelter somewhere - anywhere, really, from this raging storm. Even she couldn't take it anymore. If only the rain weren't pouring down so hard. Yuna could hardly see a thing, and it was difficult even keeping her eyes open.
She could, however, see a large castle in the distance. Maybe there was some hope of finding a safe place after all. She smiled as she imagined her cousin's reaction to the presence of a castle like that in the midst of this storm. Without a second thought, she rushed over in the direction of this shelter. At last, she would be safe from this storm, or at least she hoped so.
