Quote: "Well, we're a lot alike, so I decided to name him after myself."
Name: Toboe
Alias: N/A
Age: Unknown, but fairly young (appears to be about 14 in his human "form")
Film/Show/Game: Wolf's Rain [anime continuity]
Species: Wolf
Height: Somewhat smaller than an average wolf
Weight: Somewhat lighter than an average wolf
Basic Appearance: He's a small, scrawny, brown wolf with lighter brown markings on his eyes, muzzle, upper part of his chest, belly, legs, and under his tail. His eyes are, as is typical for wolves, yellow. He wears a silver bracelet on his right front leg as a memento of the human who cared for him.
Wolves in his universe have the ability to create the illusion of a human form as a way to blend in with the humans who would seek to kill them. Toboe is no different - his human "form" is that of a young boy with brown eyes, short, chestnut hair, a red, collared shirt, and greenish khaki pants. He wears black boots in this illusionary form, and he still has his silver bracelet on his right arm.
Picture:
Personality: He's friendly and affectionate, not unlike a dog, and he's a bit timid. His shy nature doesn't get in the way of helping his friends when they need him most, for even he will fight when he needs to. Being the youngest of the wolves who searched for Paradise, he is a bit naïve, optimistic, and playful. As he was raised by a human, he's quite trusting of them and will do anything he can to protect them.
Allies: Kiba; left for roleplay (as there don't seem to be any other characters from the series here yet)
Enemies: left for roleplay (again, only because no Wolf's Rain villains are here as of yet)
Family: None; the closest he had to a family was his caretaker, "Granny," and the pack that he joined.
Alliances: I suppose Amaterasu's group would do best?
History: For the longest time, Toboe had been raised by a kind old lady who had thought him to be a dog. Life was simple and peaceful for him then; however, one night, when his caretaker came back from the store with supplies, Toboe was a bit more than happy to see her. He accidentally killed her when he jumped on her in his playful mood, and so he was forced to live alone in the streets of Freeze City.
This life was tough for the young wolf, and he had difficulty even getting food. He had difficulty competing for scraps with the crows that lived in the alley he called home. One day, however, he noticed that a potato had rolled out of someone's grocery bag. Desperate for food, he tried to eat it, but the girl who was carrying the grocery bag that the potato fell out of felt sympathy for him and gave him some sausages. Toboe was grateful, and when he next saw her, he disguised himself with his human illusion and got to know her. It was the beginning of a pleasant friendship.
…Or so he thought. The girl's pet hawk flew away at the end of that day, and Toboe tried to save it and bring it back to her, but once again he underestimated his own strength. He simply couldn't hold the hawk gently enough, and much to his dismay, the girl grew afraid of him. He tried to show her that he was really a wolf and howled in sorrow, but another wolf, Tsume, who had run into Toboe earlier when a man bent on killing all wolves was about to shoot him, dragged him away.
Toboe took to living with Tsume, even though the silver-furred wolf was unpleasantly introverted. That didn't last long, though, as the pudgy, laid-back wolf, Hige, and the determined Kiba met up with them that night. It was then that Toboe and Tsume joined the ragtag pack in pursuit of paradise. No matter what happened, he had faith that they would get there, and he firmly believed that Tsume was nicer than he made himself out to be. The two would eventually be like brothers to each other, always looking out for one another.
After an attack on the fortress of the noble, Darcia, that ended in a resounding failure, Tsume, Toboe, and Hige were separated from Kiba. While the three were looking for him, Toboe ran into the old man who had been trying to kill him the whole time, this time barely conscious and lying down in cold snow. Feeling sorry that he had been separated from his wolfdog, Blue, and knowing that he couldn't possibly be that bad, he stopped to lie down by his side and give him warmth. Even though he had tried to kill him, Toboe saw some good in the old man.
Toboe, Hige, and Tsume eventually did reunite with Kiba, who had collapsed in a desert. They continued their journey to Paradise across some ice floes on the sea to the domain of the noble, Jaguara, who was bent on creating a "Paradise" for nobles through the use of the flower maiden, Cheza, who had been traveling with the pack before she had been captured by Darcia and then by Jaguara. On the way there, the pack was attacked by a giant walrus. When Kiba was injured by its tusk, it was Toboe who defended the attack, biting onto the walrus and not once letting go, not even when it attempted to retreat underwater. This act of courage left Toboe nearly drowned, but he managed to save the pack, prove his worth, and give the four a large, much needed meal to boot.
When the pack finally reached Jaguara's city, Toboe and Tsume found themselves thrown into a dungeon. They eventually broke free and joined up with Hige, who they thought had betrayed them, to help Kiba rescue Cheza. With Cheza finally rescued and Jaguara dead, the city began to collapse. While the group and the humans who followed them survived the escape from the city, the final stretch of the journey to the true Paradise would prove to be difficult. With the world in its sorry state as it was, only a miracle would have gotten them to their goal intact.
Toboe, who had told Blue that he would watch over her master, joined up with the old man, Quent, who had been trying to kill him since the beginning. This didn't last long, though, and in an attempt to defend him from the noble, Darcia, he was fatally shot. With the last of his strength, he staggered over to Quent, who also ended up fatally wounded in the fight, and collapsed by his side. The next thing he knew, he was in a peaceful field full of beautiful flowers, by the side of his beloved Granny who was knitting contentedly. In a way, Toboe found his own Paradise.
Not all things last forever, though. Before he knew it, he found himself in another desolate world, separated from the friends he had made on his journey. It appeared that he would have to do all he could to survive once more, confused though he was. The young wolf found himself at the entrance of a large castle. Curious, he decided he would investigate it.
Sample Post: Toboe didn't know where he was or why he was separated from Granny. Where did all the flowers go? What about the blue skies, the fluffy clouds, or Granny's promise of playing fetch with him? Where was he? So many thoughts rushed through the young wolf's head as he surveyed his surroundings. A familiar, dull atmosphere surrounded him, and there wasn't much in the way of life to be found. Something piqued his interest, though - something big.
What stood before him was a massive castle. The scrawny, young wolf tilted his head in curiosity and inched towards it. Was it a safe place? Would he be welcome here? There was only one way to find out. He pushed on the door with his head just hard enough that he could enter. "Hello?" he called out. "Is anybody here? I'm getting kind of lonely…" his voice trailed off. What if he was alone? What if there were people here who were malicious, mean, and scary? The small wolf's ears folded back in fear. He just wanted someone - or something - to let him know that it was going to be all right.
Without further ado, Toboe mustered up the courage to proceed further into the castle. Already he was getting tired; he still faintly hurt from the wounds that had killed him before. All he knew was that he was completely and utterly confused as to what was going on. Was his Paradise an illusion all along? Where were the others? What about Quent? Was he okay? All these thoughts spinning around in his head caused him to slump over onto the ground. Perhaps it was safe to rest here after all.
(I hope this is adequate!)
