Quote: "I... AM NOT... A MORON!"
Name: Wheatley
Alias: "Moron", but only by GLaDOS... and a few others.
Age: Unknown
Film/Show/Game: Portal 2
Species: Personality Core/Intelligence Dampening Sphere
Height: He's a sphere, so I'm not exactly sure if this applies.
Weight: Unknown, though you can try dropping him on your foot to find out.
Basic Appearance: Wheatley is a medium-sized, metal sphere known as a "Personality Core". His exterior is white, but is covered in various dents and scratches from his time being dropped/kicked/thrown by Chell and smashed (once) by GLaDOS, and from the time he spent drifting in outer space. In the middle-front of his spherical "body" is an "eye", which has a long diagonal crack in the lens, and glows blue and doubles as a built-in flashlight. Two handle-like objects are built in on his top and bottom, but their only use is for grabbing on to him if needed. On his "back", there is a round plug indent which doesn't come to use very often nowadays.
Picture:
Personality: Wheatley is extremely friendly and talkative, sometimes to the point of appearing annoying to others. He constantly second-guesses his own opinions, and will never demand something or take charge himself, preferring to have someone else go along with his convoluted plans instead. When these plans take a turn for the worst, he is quick to apologize before coming up with yet another nonsensical idea. And since he was designed to be an "Intelligence Dampening Sphere", naturally, he isn't too bright. But never, EVER call him a "moron". He's still rather sensitive due to... past experiences.
Allies: It doesn't really matter to him, as he'll try to get along with anybody he can.
Enemies: GLaDOS, and generally anybody he doesn't like.
Family: N/A
Alliances: Whatever alliance he manages to squeeze himself into, I s'pose.
History: [SPOILERS OH MAH GAWD SPOILERS] Wheatley was originally designed to be an "intelligence dampener" for GLaDOS, back when the scientists used to run the Aperture Science Enrichment Center. He was intended to render her less dangerous by constantly suggesting idiotic ideas, therefore hindering her decision-making process. But apparently, this didn't work out too well. Instead, he was enlisted to work in the Relaxation Center, where he would tend to humans that awaken from their stasis.
A few years after the original Portal, he met Chell after she awoke from her own stasis. The facility had fallen into a state of deterioration and was beginning to crumble, so, in a last-ditch effort to escape, he teamed up with her. After getting through some of the testing labs and proving to be somewhat useful, they finally arrived at an escape pod. Unfortunately, in the process of finding the correct switch to activate it, they ended up malfunctioning the entire thing, and due to Wheatley's own incompetence, were unable to find an abort password.
Unfortunately, the two ended up encountering and awakening GLaDOS, who wasn't all too happy about it. She ended up smashing Wheatley, and immediately threw Chell into the testing labs once more.
Wheatley, who survived (but was damaged quite a bit), and did the best he could to keep up with Chell, occasionally trying to get to her through the panels in the wall. Eventually, he managed to reunite with her and the two managed to destroy GLaDOS' two main weapons before going after her themselves. Once they reached her domain, Chell replaced GLaDOS with Wheatley, and he became attached to GLaDOS' body instead. Which was a horrible decision. Wheatley proceeded to take over the entire facility and place GLaDOS' mind in a potato battery. As he was about to send Chell to freedom, he changed his mind, and, in a fit of rage, accused her of taking all the credit, then smashed the elevator, sending Chell and GLaDOS down to the bowels of the facility. He then proceeded to change everything to match his image, even going to far as to rename the place "Wheatley Laboratories".
But eventually, both Chell and GLaDOS managed to find a confront Wheatley again (after countless of stressful, hair-pulling tests). In the end, Chell managed to shoot a portal to the moon, leading to Wheatley getting sucked into outer space, where he remained stranded for quite some time along with the irritating Space Core. He remained there for a month or so, drifting aimlessly, but ended up getting sucked through a strange-looking wormhole that quite literally appeared out of nowhere, sending him to the Citadel. Unfortunately, he remains stranded once again, but this time, in a strange forest, waiting for some passerby to come across him so that he can finally get out of there.
Sample Post:
"How to go about doing this..." the core murmured, spherical "body" swiveling to gaze up at the sky, then back down at the ground once more, while his blue optic retracted and dilated sporadically. Yes... this was going to be a problem.
"Uhm.. hello? Anyone out there? Anyone with... opposable thumbs maybe?" he called, rotating again to look at his surroundings. Nothing but trees, rocks, plants, and... Aha! On the limb of one of the trees, he spotted something small and furry. "You there!" Whatever it was acknowledged Wheatley with it's beady black eyes. "Yes you! Uh, care to lend me a hand or... whatever you have? Paws, are those paws? Yes, I'm kind of stuck, as you can see, so it'd be greatly--" Before he could finish, whatever it was had lunged into the nearest tree with on flick of it's bushy tail. "Wait, wait, wait! Don't go! Please? Tell you what, if you come back, I'll give you... a massage! How would you like that? A nice, relaxing rub on the back! Well, I know there's going to be an issue with that, with me lacking arms and all, but I can figure something out."
Despite the sphere's "tempting" offer, the squirrel didn't come back. Wheatley was starting to find being stranded on the ground rather... uncomfortable. Birds would occasionally stop to pick at him, and an ant pile was starting to form at his base. Not to mention, the forest was growing dark at a rapid pace, and his built-in flashlight was too busted up to even function for at least five minutes. In short, he was going to be completely screwed when the sun finally disappeared completely.
But at least it beat being stranded in the vast reaches of space... right?
